In the closing years of the seventeenth century, Isaac Newton brought forth a work that would fundamentally transform humanity's understanding of the cosmos. The *Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica*-the Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy-emerged from years of intense labour, first prompted by a casual conversation with Edmund Halley in 1684.
