“He built passion into steel and speed into legend”

Biography

Ferruccio Lamborghini was born in 1916 in Renazzo, Italy, into a family of farmers and mechanics who cultivated in him a natural gift for engineering and innovation. After serving in the Second World War, he established himself as a talented industrialist, founding Lamborghini Trattori in 1948 to manufacture tractors from salvaged military machinery. His business acumen and meticulous attention to quality earned him respect and prosperity throughout the post-war agricultural boom. Yet success in farm equipment would prove merely the prelude to his true passion, one born from wounded pride and unbridled ambition.

In 1963, Lamborghini shifted his considerable resources toward the automotive world, establishing Automobili Lamborghini in the small town of Sant'Agata Bolognese near Bologna. Driven by a legendary dispute with Enzo Ferrari over a faulty clutch, Ferruccio resolved to build sports cars that would surpass the Prancing Horse. The resulting vehicles, particularly the groundbreaking Miura of 1966, revolutionized automotive design with their mid-engine configuration and breathtaking performance. Lamborghini's pursuit of perfection transformed an act of spite into an enduring legacy, creating machines that remain icons of engineering excellence and Italian craftsmanship.
